- DO NOT TAKE ibuprofen, Naproxen®, Diclofenac®, FULL dose aspirin
- DO NOT TAKE Celebrex® or Turmeric, Flax Seeds, CBD oil or Marijuana
FOR PAIN, DISCOMFORT, OR SWELLING PLEASE USE “RICE” METHOD
- REST: “IF IT HURTS, DON’T DO IT.” No strenuous repetitive activities for more than 35 minutes. Examples: running, walking, cycling. Take breaks after 35 minutes.
- ICE: Cold will reduce pain and swelling. Apply an ice or cold pack right away to prevent or minimize swelling. Apply the ice or cold pack for 10 minutes, 3 or more times a day.
- COMPRESSION: Wear the brace or sleeve if given to you. Compression or wrapping the injured or sore area with an elastic bandage (such as an Ace wrap), will help decrease swelling.
- ELEVATION: Elevate the injured or sore area on pillows while applying ice or cold packs and anytime you are sitting or lying down. Try to keep the area above the level of your heart to help minimize swelling and increase good circulation.
All NSAIDs should be avoided for 3 weeks after treatment. Other pain medication, such as Norco®, gabapentin, tramadol, and Tylenol® 500mg every 6 hours are acceptable as needed for pain. MAX DOSE of Tylenol® is 3,000mg per day. Follow directions on the drug label.
